Bacton:

SS0266 (Bull Field) is integral to the heritage setting of Bacton Manor (Grade II*), Shop Green and the adjacent Grade II properties. With SS0859 (Manor Meadow) this forms part of the historic grounds of Bacton Manor.

Any built development would jeopardise this relationship losing valuable agricultural land which has sustained this community for hundreds of years. Such a policy would be irreversible. Other sites in the village can meet the perceived housing requirement without endangering this valuable landscape.

A pre-emptive current planning application proposes a wholly inappropriate modern estate on this land which I trust will be rejected.

The development of his site will change the character and appearance of this historic part of the village and the views of Historic England should be sought as to the impact development will have on the setting of the Grade II* Listed Building, especially when the land to the south (SS0859) is taken into account

We object to this site being included within the settlement boundary, it is unsuitable because it is surrounded by a number of listed buildings, including the Grade 2* Manor House. Has value to the community as a key site within the village to improve the road junction between Wyverstone Road and Church Road, and provide additional parking for the village shop, garage and public house. If the primary school is relocated, it could provide good off road pedestrian and cycle access. Because of its position at the centre of the major amenities in the community, it should remain as a green space to help retain the village atmosphere.

SS0266 is appropriate for allocation. The site is subject to a current planning application and has been subject to an extensive programme of supporting technical work and reports. These are summarised in the Site Promoter Document enclosed.
