In assessing the level of expansion required for Mendlesham Health Centre, account needs to be taken of increased pressures resulting from new housing in Stowupland ahead of health provision there and also from future windfall developments within the catchment of Mendlesham and Bacton surgeries.
In the IDP the priority for increased capacity at Mendlesham Health Centre is stated as "desirable". This seems to be inconsistent with the stated "Short Term" timescale and the fact that an extension WILL be required.

With significant levels of development already taking place, delay in the provision of health services in Stowupland and Stowmarket will lead to increased pressure on neighbouring health centres, including Bacton and Mendlesham. Has this been taken into account in assessing the level of expansion required?
The Healthcare Practice table in the Infrastructure Delivery Plan only refers to the number of new dwellings deriving from site allocations. For a rural practice a relatively higher proportion of new dwellings will come from windfall sites. Has this been taken into account in assessing the level of expansion required?

Given Mendlesham is a Core Village, and also due to its location off the A140 between Ipswich and Norwich, it is considered Mendlesham is suitable to accommodate additional growth, and additional sites should be allocated. This includes the land north of Brockford Road, which would form a suitable additional site, given it adjoins existing settlement boundary and the proposed allocation LA074
