There have been close on 200 individual objections to the recent application for planning on this site and the objections still remain: this is a precious demarkation area between the villages of Bramford and Sproughton and is needed to retain the individual villages' identity; it will ruin one of the key views of the ancient church in the village; there are no plans for improved traffic infrastructure (at a time when bus services are being cut back this is now a vital issue); there are already brownfield sites earmarked for development that haven't been developed yet.

Ref LA006 - Allocation of land south of Fitzgerald Road, Bramford which shows the possibility of 100 new dwellings. An application has already been submitted for 175 homes (Planning Ref: DC/19/01401). If adopted as part of the structure plan, it will be against the overall wishes of the community of Bramford who oppose development of this site outside of the current village
boundary as recognised in the Bramford Parish Plan 2012.

Information published in the Parish Profile for Bramford which was produced primarily to help inform local discussion on housing need from data in the 2011 Census and updated by MSDC in 2015, the number of dwellings in Bramford is 1,070. Since this time,
planning consent was granted for an additional 512 dwellings (References 2700/12;
2986/15; DC/18/00233 and DC/18/04695 ). This represents an increase of 48%. The
inclusion of a further 100 dwellings in Fitzgerald Road would increase this percentage to 57%. This is unsustainable and should not be allowed. This site should removed from the Structure Plan.

This map is misleading. Whilst its stated that planning consents granted prior to April 2018 have been taken into account when calculating numbers of dwellings required, the details don't represented on the map insofar as it doesn't show sites which have been granted consent.(2700/12; 2986/15 and DC/18/04695 please refer) DC/19/00046 has also been granted for a 49.9 MW gas powered Standby Electric Generator in Bullen Lane and this infrastructure project should also be shown on the structure plan to show the extent of future development in Bramford. The settlement boundary should be amended to take account of all of the above applications and the Place Map for Bramford updated accordingly.

Strongly objected to by local residents during initial consultation. Potential developments along the B1113 will exacerbate the situation but Infrastructure Delivery Plan does little to address this. Local transport infrastructure must be improved for environment and health and safety as per Climate Emergency. Primary school and new preschool should incorporate measures to discourage car travel.
Following worth of consideration:
Provision/maintenance of safe footpaths and cycleways between development cites and village centre
restoration of Bury Road Park and Ride
Enhance local bus services
Prohibit through traffic into village centre from B113 Loraine Way
Create 20mph speed limit through village centre and shared pedestrian and vehicle zone.
Stricter enforcement of speed limits and vehicle parking

The two pieces of land in question in Fitzgerald Road and also to the east of The Street are good agricultural land which will be needed to provide food in future. This should not be developed for housing. A much more suitable site would be the old Fisons factory in Paper Mill Lane which is just sitting empty and gradually decaying. It is much more important to clear this potentially dangerous site than to take good fertile land.

Remove LA006 from plan. 2012 parish plan stated that this space should be protected, Fitzgerald Road remaining the village boundary. Developing this site would join Bramford up to Sproughton. More sustainable brownfield sites are available. Fisons site previously had planning permission but is not included in the latest plan. B1113 already very busy. Parked cars along Fitzgerald Way. Junction with Vicarage Lane dangerous. Previous application refused. Reasons even stronger now, with cancellation of the village's regular 89 bus service. Development of the site would destroy wildlife habitat, agricultural land and a recreational exercise area. It would also increase flood risk.

Remove LA006 from plan. 2012 parish plan for Bramford made clear the views of local people that views across this Visually Important Open Space should be protected and that Fitzgerald Road should remain the village boundary. Developing this site would join Bramford up to the historic hamlet of Runcton. Babergh's plan also risks joining Runcton up to Sproughton, so including LA006 would create a continually built up corridor along the B1113. 512 units for Bramford have been approved since 2015 - a 48% increase in dwellings. It cannot be expected to support another 100. More sustainable brownfield sites are available - e.g. Fisons. That site has previously had planning permission but is not included in the latest plan. B1113 is already very busy and is often used as both an unofficial - and, at times, official - alternative to the A14, despite the presence of weight restrictions. Cars are usually parked along Fitzgerald Way and the junction with Vicarage Lane , with a blind bend, is particularly difficult to negotiate. Previous application for housing on this site was refused. If anything, the reasons for refusal are even stronger now, with the cancellation of the village's regular 89 bus service. Development of the site would destroy wildlife habitat, agricultural land and a recreational exercise area. It would also increase flood risk.
