Joint Local Plan Main Modifications

Representation ID: 22650

Received: 03/05/2023

Respondent: Anglian Water Services Ltd

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Representation Summary:

Anglian Water supports the recognition that water supplies for non-domestic use is constrained. However, we would recommend that the term is amended to “Significant Water Usage” to avoid connotations with the term 'Heavy Water' and further amendments regarding the regulatory position for non-domestic water use. We consider offices and other uses such as hotel accommodation to generally be a domestic supply for sanitation, washing and drinking water, where we cannot refuse a connection, but would welcome and encourage water efficiency and greywater recycling measures in these non-household developments.

Change suggested by respondent:

Significant Water Usage

Refers to a user who requires a large amount of non-domestic water for their activities. Normally this is expected to be manufacturing and processing businesses. Where schemes can be implemented within the existing supply capacity, it is likely that the relevant water company will require water supply agreements in place to provide clarity of the terms of use for the non-domestic water.
