A priority should be not to ruin village communities by merging them with Ipswich. This is evident from the identified areas in Sproughton and Bramford which will become fused as one suburb of Ipswich and lose the village identity completely.

Housing. Proportionate growth in all settlement/villages
Economy. Rural Business is very important to MSDC for growth in the countryside and making active countryside and not a countryside of retirement villages.
Environment. Making it a working environment but protecting it for the next generation as custodians of the countryside.
Infrastructure. Is very important but is out of MSDC hands i.e. SCC Water Board, Drainage Board Education and Heath etc. Work closely with these state holders and be around the table to push the local case.

Mid Suffolk District's main priority should be the provision of improved infrastructure, particularly in the areas of road, rail and broadband provision. Delivering the Council's Vision is significantly impeded without improvement in the communication network for both travel and internet.
Consideration should be given to dualling the A140, bypassing some of the villages along the route. This will create land for development of key housing and employment sites.
In addition, the rail connection along the Ipswich to Cambridge route, via Bury St Edmunds would support growth in the key areas mentioned.

As mentioned by others, provision of high speed Broadband should be a pre-requisite of any housing development. Such provision can greatly aid the establishment of business in the rural environment together with a reduction in travel as people will choose to work from home.

A bypass is essential for the town and surrounding area of Diss.
A proposal has been made to build a bypass from Victoria road, Diss, to the rail bridge at Rose lane Palgrave and the A143.
This is a major concern to our villagers as it will mean increased traffic through the village.

Mid Suffolk should have healthy communities and infrastructure but this is at risk of not being achieved as Mid Suffolk & Babergh merge in contradiction to the democratic vote against a merger in 2011. This necessarily means that small communities will be further ignored with the central hub further removed to Ipswich, with little or no resource at Stowmarket/Hadleigh/Sudbury ets

Response: For Babergh the priority should be the provision of enhanced infrastructure to support any future developments - road networks, public transport, healthcare, schools and healthcare. Some priority should be given to meeting the needs of an increasingly ageing population. This is best dealt with by the provision of a New Town, located centrally and planned from scratch. 'Bolting on' developments to existing villages just will not work.

Our village is Fressingfield in the most northern part of the MSDC district and happens to be one of the most rural parts of the region creating very specific and significant problems. These include:
Village identity. To allow the village to grow gradually, sustainably and whilst retaining its character
Sustainable, appropriate housing development.
Appropriate housing. The needs of an aging population and young first time buyers has to be addressed
Improving infrastructure - modern communications (better broadband), utilities.
Education.
Health.
Public transport.
Highways.
Employment.
Environment.
Safety of residents both from increased traffic together with increased policing.

Priority should be given to the growth of the district whilst maintaining the integrity of rural communities, in particular, small villages and hamlets. Specific attention must be given to increased volumes of traffic and access to amenities that do not have sufficient capacity that will result from the proposed developments. All large developments must consider the impact of through traffic in the wider surrounding areas as part of an integrated planning policy and process.

1. developments shouldn't lead to communities losing their identity by swamping or merging
2. More smaller developments across the area means local builders have employment not large firms such as Taylor Wimpy, Hopkin homes etc
3. Improvement in secondary education facilities

Economic Growth whist protecting the environment and attractiveness of Suffolk; with no economic growth there will be very little demand for housing; this growth should be focussed on helping the youth and young families otherwise the county will continue to become a dormitory for the old. Also any growth should be supported by infrastructure growth.

Maintenance of the distinction between the essentially rural village and the major towns, restricting "creep" of the latter to absorb surrounding rural communities and allowing modest growth in the former to allow new younger residents to access the village environment by the addition of affordable housing so that such communities can continue to flourish, Recognition of the key levels of infrastructure is critical as many villages (eg Copdock & Washbrook) lack facilities, are already used as rat runs due to insufficient transport infrastructure and are close to existing planning proposals (eg Belsetead quarry) which will exacerbate the situation
